RTI and the MTSS Framework have been hailed as an effective way to support students with learning and behavioral needs and even promised to help close the achievement gap for students with disabilities. However, a lack of student achievement under such frameworks is casting doubt on their effectiveness and educators’ understanding of how to implement them. During this, Dr. Gibbons will:

  • Explain how, when implemented with fidelity, a MTSS framework can effectively support students with learning and behavioral needs
  • Summarize components necessary for effective implementation of an MTSS framework
  • Identify approaches for ensuring effective leadership, sustainability and fidelity of an MTSS framework

About the Webinar Series: “Results Matter – Closing the Achievement Gap”

After decades of legislation, litigation, research, professional development, and an alphabet soup full of acronyms, the achievement gap remains stubbornly wide. What are the practical realities and what work still needs to be done to make the dream of full achievement for all students come true? PresenceLearning’s latest SPED Ahead webinar series explores this topic and provides a comprehensive look at where our education system is in reaching full achievement for all students and where we are headed. Led by subject matter experts, the series will unpack topics such as RDA and ESSA, factors that contribute to programs like MTSS and RTI not living up to their promises, socio-economic factors that impair achievement, how a growth mindset is the key to success, and much more. All webinars are 90 minutes and are offered free of charge. Every attendee receives a certificate of attendance. Qualified attendees who are members of their professional organizations are eligible to earn ASHA CEUs or NASP CPDs.
